Part-time (50%) with potential to increase to 80% for the right candidate, fixed-term position for up to 12 months
Base salary will be in the range $76,025 - $80,606 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 4)
Based at the Centre for Children’s Research Centre, adjacent to Qld Children’s Hospital in South Brisbane
About This Opportunity
Join the Ian Frazer Centre for Children’s Immunotherapy Research (IFCCIR) at UQ as a Research Assistant and play a vital role in the Paediatric Immune Cell Atlas research program. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research in children’s immunotherapy by supporting the processing and management of clinical samples and data. Working within a collaborative team, you’ll ensure accurate and high-quality laboratory practices that directly support research into innovative treatments for cancer, autoimmune, and infectious diseases in children.
Key responsibilities will include:
Collect, process, and store patient specimens, ensuring compliance with established protocols and quality standards.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all clinical samples and support data management through electronic laboratory notebooks and databases.
Support senior researchers with experiments, laboratory operations, SOPs, and risk assessments.
Provide administrative assistance including ordering supplies, preparing reports, and coordinating meetings to support the smooth running of the Centre.

About You
Experience working within a PC2 laboratory, handling and processing clinical samples including blood and/or tissues
Experience using REDCap or the ability to undergo training to become proficient
Demonstrated organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail
Computer and database literacy skills including the Microsoft Office suite.
Self-motivated and ability to prioritise workload to meet research deadlines
Availability to commence the role at short notice is preferred.
You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Employer sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, and mandatory immunisations.
