About This Opportunity
We are seeking two experienced and highly motivated Psychologists to provide clinical research support to the QuikFix clinical team at the University of Queensland as part of research conducted in partnership with colleges connected to universities in Queensland, University of Sydney and University of Melbourne.
Reporting to Professor Leanne Hides, and having Dr Catherine Quinn as a clinical supervisor, this role is critical to ensuring the delivery of high-quality clinical research outcomes for an NHMRC MRFF-funded National Randomised Controlled Trial, supporting college students to reduce alcohol and drug-related harm.
About the QuikFix Brief Telehealth Intervention:
QuikFix is a brief, telephone-based intervention for college students, designed to help reduce alcohol and drug-related harm. University students will receive personalised feedback on their alcohol and drug use and discuss strategies to reduce risk, including safer use tips, stress-coping strategies, and creating a personalised harm-reduction goal for the future. The telephone session will last approximately 30 minutes.
Key responsibilities will include:
Deliver and document high-quality telehealth interventions: Conduct QuikFix phone sessions, maintain treatment fidelity, accurately record all interactions, provide high quality clinical case notes and adhere to clinical, ethical and regulatory standards.
Engage and support participants: Manage high-volume outreach, build rapport to enhance engagement and retention, assist with recruitment and follow-ups, and use multiple digital platforms to support smooth service delivery.
Collaborate and contribute to research excellence: Participate in training and supervision, provide clinical advice, support team members, and work effectively across the research team to maintain professional standards and advance project outcomes.
Position details:
Salary: These positions will be offered at HEW Level 7 for graduates (based on qualifications and experience). Please note, if you are in the process of completing your Masters and have not yet graduated, please still submit an application as you may be considered for a HEW Level 6 role within the team. This opportunity can be discussed at the interview stage.
About You
Completion (or near completion) of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited Masters in Psychology and relevant experience in psychology; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Eligible for AHPRA registration, either provisional, general or clinically endorsed.
Demonstrated clinical skills and experience in delivering psychological assessments and treatments.
Clinical interest and experience working with young people (aged 17-25 years) and in Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) populations.
The ability to apply high level clinical knowledge and skills to deliver brief telehealth interventions in accordance with the treatment framework.
Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills to develop strong working relationships, deal with any clinical research issues sensitively and assertively and the ability to interact with a diverse range of colleagues, research participants and stakeholders.
A high level of computer and phone literacy including the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
High level written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated excellent administrative and organisational skills, including the ability to set priorities, manage time, plan work to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
Experience receiving supervision and taking part in peer supervision.
Demonstrated analytical and research skills including the ability to undertake high quality data collection, data entry, analysis, report writing and supporting project management.
Desirable:
Postgraduate training in Clinical Psychology would be highly regarded as would eligibility for an area of practice endorsement in Clinical Psychology.
Demonstrated skills and experience in clinical Motivational Interviewing techniques and Cognitive Behavioural Psychology.
Prior knowledge and experience in clinical trial methodology and research.
Prior experience in delivering manualised interventions and/or telehealth interventions.
