Join The University of Queensland as a Senior Project Manager within the Property and Facilities Division (Project Delivery), where you will lead the successful end-to-end delivery of major projects across UQ’s campuses. In this pivotal role, you will drive outcomes through every stage of the project lifecycle, from initiation and planning to execution, evaluation and close-out. You will develop and refine project processes, oversee procurement and contract negotiations, manage deliverables and reporting, and foster strong stakeholder engagement to ensure seamless project execution.

Some key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead and manage end-to-end project and program delivery to ensure alignment with strategic objectives, including cross-portfolio initiatives and multi-stakeholder engagements.
Provide strategic project planning and expert advice to senior leaders, selecting and applying appropriate project management methodologies and developing detailed project plans across all lifecycle phases.
Manage and guide project teams by planning, prioritising and adjusting best-practice methodologies to improve efficiency, resolve complex issues, and achieve outcomes on time and within budget.
Build productive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, lead project communications and change activities, and execute communication strategies in partnership with Change Managers.
Oversee governance, financial and procurement activities, including budget management, tender and vendor selection, exercising financial delegations, and supporting Project Steering Committee operations.
Identify and manage project risks, issues, dependencies and scope changes; implement monitoring and evaluation processes; and report on status, progress, metrics and critical deliverables.

About You
We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager with qualifications in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, Architecture or a related field or an equivalent combination of qualifications and workplace experience. In addition, you will have:
Demonstrated experience successfully managing large, complex and/or cross-portfolio projects, ideally within a large and complex organisation.
Demonstrated expertise in the application of best-practice project management methodologies as appropriate to the size, scale, scope and complexity of the project.
Knowledge of and experience in coordinating vendor selection, alignment, and contract negotiation.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and critically analyse complex technical specifications related to building design, construction and whole of life maintenance.
Demonstrated high level knowledge of project and construction contract management principles and ability to apply associated skills in a complex environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the effective liaison and negotiation skills needed to develop and maintain strong working relationships within a School/Faculty/Institute/Portfolio, and the wider University community.
Demonstrated high level organisational ability, attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
Experience leading project team staff, including planning, organising, performance management, recognition and development of staff.
Previous Senior Project Manager experience within a tertiary and/or research institution would be highly valued.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check.
