About This Opportunity
Are you an innovative and experienced Learning Designer, ready to transform assessment at the University of Queensland? In this role, you will provide support to academic staff in the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law (BEL), to design cutting-edge curriculum, assessments, and active learning pedagogies.
Reporting to the BEL Senior Manager, Education and working under broad direction, you will be instrumental in achieving the institution's 'Lead through Learning' strategy, directly addressing the rapid rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. This means preparing students for responsible AI use by equipping them with ethical and practical skills for their studies and careers and maintaining the integrity of the learning process through secure and credible assessment practices.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with stakeholders, including the UQ Strategic Lead (Assessment Transformation), to understand priorities and establish reporting requirements for measuring assessment transformation success.
- Develop assessment strategies aligned with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and programmatic assessment.
- Support faculty staff in creating, implementing, and evaluating innovative and secure assessment strategies that enhance student learning outcomes, align with curriculum goals, meet industry standards, and prepare students for an AI-integrated workplace.
- Advise university teaching and management staff on the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of resources supporting assessment feedback and integrity, within courses and across programs.
- Maintain knowledge of current practices and future opportunities in assessment technologies and innovation across the higher education sector, sharing this expertise within the BEL Faculty and the wider University community through communities of practice and other avenues.
- Plan and lead internal learning and educational design projects/activities, defining scope/objectives and coordinating available resources.
- Work closely with colleagues and other subject matter experts to advance pedagogical outcomes, especially concerning AI and assessment security. This includes facilitating professional development activities to progress assessment innovation and transformation, with a particular focus on assessment security and responsible use of AI.

About You
- Relevant degree/qualifications and at least four (4) years of subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training in developing online resources to support student learning and assessment.
- Demonstrated understanding of educational technology and best practices to support student achievement, engagement, and assessment security, particularly in the context of AI.
- Advanced analytical skills to analyse complex information and identify issues related to assessment security and integrity.
- Demonstrated ability to apply pedagogical theory, contemporary practice and practical experience to develop innovative face to face and online learning and assessment solutions.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders, and a demonstrated commitment to responding to client needs.
- Demonstrated ability to work iteratively, adapt to change, and operate effectively both on an autonomous basis and as a member of a collaborative, client-focused team.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check etc.
