About This Opportunity
Are you a skilled HVAC/Refrigeration Technician or Electrician ready for the next step in your career?
We’re looking for an experienced Technician who wants more than just day-to-day service calls. If you’re ready to use your hands-on trade knowledge while stepping into a role that mixes technical work with project coordination, this is your opportunity.
In this role, you’ll still be actively working on HVAC or Electrical systems, but you’ll also be the key point of contact on-site – helping manage minor works, coordinate contractors, solve technical issues, and ensure facilities are performing at their best. If you’ve ever thought about diversifying your abilities into a coordination-based role but still love being on the tools, this is the best of both worlds.
Your trade is the most important qualification. Experience in other non-licensed areas or small-scale project work is a bonus – but UQ will provide support and training to help you grow.
Key responsibilities will include:
Support continuous improvement and contribute to a safe, efficient facilities environment.
Deliver and coordinate maintenance, repairs, and minor works across the precinct.
Act as the main client contact, managing requests and ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Supervise contractors, source quotes, and oversee works to meet safety, quality, budget and timeframes.
Inspect and monitor building assets and systems, log jobs, and maintain accurate records.
Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and UQ safety requirements.

As part of the UQ community, you will have the opportunity to work alongside the brightest minds, who have joined us from all over the world.

By supporting the academic endeavour across teaching, research, and the student life, you will have the opportunity to contribute to activities that have a lasting impact on our community.
Join a community where excellence is at the core of our culture, contributions are valued and a range of benefits and rewards are available, such as:
Up to 26 weeks paid parental leave or 14 weeks paid primary caregiver leave
