
Aboriginal Residential Centre Supervisor
Corrective Services NSW
Location – Balund-a Program (Tabulam)
Employment type – Temporary full‑time position until November 2028, with potential for ongoing employment
Hours - 12 hour shifts (Day/Night/weekend), 6 week roster cycle
Salary – $99,938 - $110,271 per annum plus Superannuation, Annual Leave Loading, and Shift penalties
Grade – Clerk Grade 5/6
This position is open to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only
Your role
Provide supervision and guidance to reporting staff, whilst managing the daily activities of the centre. This includes the provision of case management services, resident engagement and their participation in the program in compliance with the various legislation related to the operations of the centre as well as to Corrective Services NSW policies and procedures.
This role is committed to improving outcomes for the benefit of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
What you’ll do
Key accountabilities
- Lead and support staff to ensure effective program delivery and contribute to resident case management.
- Maintain a safe environment for staff, residents, and visitors.
- Monitor staff performance to ensure resident welfare is prioritised, including incident reporting and follow‑up.
- Coordinate daily schedules and duties, ensuring staff are informed of resident needs or behaviours requiring attention.
- Manage allocated portfolios that support the Centre’s daily operations.
- Assist multidisciplinary teams, complete required training, co‑facilitate programs, and supervise community access (where applicable).
- Build and maintain professional relationships with government and non‑government partners to meet legislative and operational requirements.
- Provide timely advice and reports to support management decision‑making.
- Strengthen relationships with Aboriginal communities and key stakeholders to support program delivery and ongoing case management.

- Maintaining respectful and culturally informed engagement with residents, their families, and the broader community.
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework to drive continuous service improvement.
- Upholding cultural safety while supporting both Aboriginal and non‑Aboriginal residents through ongoing transfer of cultural knowledge and practice.
What we’re looking for
Key knowledge and experience
- Demonstrated cultural capability, including lived experience, strong knowledge of contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and the ability to recognise and respond to the diverse needs of individuals experiencing trauma or disadvantage.
- Understanding of the criminal justice system.
- Preferred: Certificate IV in Community Services or equivalent experience in case management or human services.
Ability to
- Lead, support, and guide staff to deliver program activities effectively, including contributing to resident case management.
- Maintain a safe working environment that protects staff, residents, and visitors.
- Monitor staff performance to ensure resident welfare is prioritised, including timely incident reporting and follow‑up.
- Communicate daily schedules, duties, and any resident‑related considerations clearly to all staff.
- Manage designated portfolios that support the Centre’s daily operations, as assigned by senior management.
- Support program delivery by working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, completing required training, co‑facilitating programs, and supervising community access where applicable.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with government and non‑government agencies to meet legislative and operational requirements.
- Provide accurate advice and reporting to management to support informed decision‑making.
Essential requirements
- This is an Identified role and is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons (see Notes below).
- Current NSW driver’s licence and LR licence, or willingness to obtain the LR licence within the first three months of employment.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Certificate in Community Services or equivalent experience in case management or human services (preferred).
As an Identified role, this position is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons.
