About You
This senior leadership role sits at the centre of Australia’s engagement with APEC, combining strategy, relationship management and delivery. You will help guide the direction of the Australian APEC Study Centre, working closely with government stakeholders, regional counterparts, industry and academic partners. The role involves leading sensitive, high trust work, shaping new initiatives, overseeing priority projects, and ensuring the Centre’s activities are well coordinated, well governed and delivering clear value.
The projects you will be involved in range from regional capacity building programs and policy dialogues, through to advisory and secretariat support for senior groups and committees. You will help turn emerging policy priorities into practical initiatives, oversee the development of concept notes and proposals, and provide direction and oversight as projects move into delivery. This includes coordinating inputs from subject matter experts, keeping multiple workstreams aligned, monitoring budgets and milestones, and stepping in to resolve issues when timelines are tight or expectations shift. The role suits someone who enjoys variety, influence and working across both short-term deliverables and longer term programs in an international policy environment.
To be successful in this position, you’ll have:
Strong ability to manage multiple stakeholders with differing priorities, including government and international counterparts, and to maintain momentum across projects with competing timelines.
Understanding of policy, economic or trade related programs, with an interest in , industry bodies, regenerative futures or gender equity, and the ability to build subject matter knowledge over time.
Experience working in multilateral, international or cross jurisdictional environments, with an appreciation of how large institutions or regional forums operate.
High level organisational skills, including the ability to track deliverables, manage risks, monitor budgets and ensure reporting requirements are met.
Demonstrated experience managing complex projects or programs end to end, including planning, coordination, delivery, reporting and stakeholder management, ideally in externally funded or contract based settings.
Willingness and ability to support international project delivery, including occasional overseas travel as required.
Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
