About This Opportunity
We are seeking a reliable Facilities Support Officer/Stores-person for the School of Biomedical Sciences to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our goods receiving area. This hands-on role involves receiving, unpacking, and safely handling a variety of consumables, equipment, and chemicals, while delivering excellent customer service to staff and students. You’ll also support broader facilities operations, including managing keys and smart card access, testing safety equipment, conducting audits, and coordinating maintenance requests.
Key responsibilities will include:
Manage goods and inventory: Track purchase orders, process invoices, check deliveries, perform stock checks, and maintain accurate records to ensure smooth and compliant store operations.
Oversee storage and logistics: Apply safe handling and storage policies for biological, chemical, and quarantine goods; coordinate packaging and freight per IATA guidelines; and maintain clean, hazard-free facilities.
Support infrastructure and safety: Log and follow up maintenance requests, test-tag electrical equipment, assist with gas and liquid nitrogen systems, and support general building upkeep.
Provide customer and facilities support: Deliver responsive service to staff and researchers, manage access and security (keys, swipe cards, registers), and assist the Facilities and Infrastructure Manager with other operational duties.

About You
Current driver’s license.
Completion of an associate diploma level qualification with relevant work-related experience or a certificate level qualification with post-certificate work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training.
Knowledge of relevant dangerous goods regulations.
Relevant stores experience, preferably in a scientific background.
Demonstrated ability to accept responsibility, work in an autonomous manner and exercise initiative.
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritise competing work demands and work in an efficient and well-organised manner under pressure.
A strong orientation to the provision of a high level of client service.
Sound verbal communication skills, with the ability to positively engage with and relate to a wide range of stakeholders.
Proficiency in the use of computers, asset management software, Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook, and online courier tracking systems.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia.
