About This Opportunity
The Assistant, Finance Partner (locally known as the Assistant Management Accountant) provides professional project accounting advice and support to senior project leaders across client business units. Working as part of the Finance and Business Services team, this role ensures effective and compliant cost management of project activities, delivering financial analysis, advice, and reporting to support informed decision-making across both operational and grant-funded projects.
Key responsibilities will include:
Providing strategic financial advice to project leaders to ensure optimal utilisation of grants and related funding.
Supporting budgeting, forecasting, expenditure reporting, and variance management using advanced project accounting tools and processes.
Reviewing and processing financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance within policy and procedural frameworks.
Collaborating with the Senior Management Accountant and client business units to deliver tailored management accounting services and robust budgetary control.

About You
You will be a proactive and detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys providing analytical and advisory support in a collaborative environment. You combine technical financial skills with a strong client service focus and the ability to build trusted relationships across a range of stakeholders.
You will bring:
Degree qualifications in accounting, business, commerce or a related field, or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply them to project-based accounting services.
Experience delivering financial advisory and/or service functions within complex stakeholder or policy environments.
Proven ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with clients and colleagues.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, delivering outcomes within agreed timeframes and standards.
Progress toward, or current membership of, a professional accounting body (CPA/CA or equivalent).
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check, etc.
